Steve has been involved with an almost infinite number of people throughout the years, covering most of the globe. Colleagues, clients and friends are certainly well represented on every continent! Companies such as Siemens, Northern Rock and Newcastle United has all enlisted his help as well as high profile sporting heroes such as Jonny Wilkinson, Jonathan Edwards and Glen McCrory. But is hasn't always been daily dealings with such illustrious talent.

Steve's career path has taken such wild detours along the way that there is every chance his is a path that may never be repeated! Steve started life as a doorman in Newcastle at sixteen. During this time he pursued a fledgling career in management by running local football sides in the area to great success.

He chose to develop his coaching prowess further, and soon it became evident that this was where his future lay. Applying all his energy and natural enthusiasm, he soon began to attract interest from notable sporting icons in the region. While developing the sports management skills that would serve him so well in later life, Steve became Centre Manager for the YMCA in North Shields, an outer suburb of Tyneside. It was here that Steve's ability to amalgamate techniques from all manner of different sports and disciplines came to the fore. Soon he was working for Newcastle United during the glorious Kevin Keegan era and helped take the club from languishing at the bottom of the old second division to the dizzy heights of division championships and European football.

A transfer of Sports followed and Steve joined the sporting revolution that was beginning at Newcastle Falcons rugby club. Driven with Steve's revolutionary approach, the Falcons won both the league and cup during his stay at the club. Word soon started to spread, and as Steve's international reputation grew he began to attract interest from around the world. An offer came in from Graham Henry, now the All Blacks manager, to join him at the helm of Wales RFU. During his time with Wales the national team saw a renewed confidence peaking with an eleven match winning run, the longest in the side's entire history.

Steve's next port of call was the British & Irish Lions rugby team. The 2001 tour to Australia further developed Steve's knowledge of elite sports competition and the experience itself is of great interest to anyone wanting to know the motivational issues of such high level competition.

Steve then transferred sports back to football and worked with Fulham FC alongside Paul Bracewell. As Paul left the club, an offer to return to his native north east proved too good to refuse and Steve returned to the Newcastle Falcons to again work alongside Rob Andrew & Co in revitalizing a team that was going through a transition period from the old guard that had been so successful during Steve's first stay to the exciting new younger generation that was emerging.

Steve bridged rugby and football at this time by also working with Sunderland AFC during their promotion season into the premiership in their fantastic period under Peter Reid.

The end of 2004 will see the launch of ‘Blackie', Steve's biography written in conjunction Arthur MacKenzie.
